The investor’s land is situated on a slope at the edge of the town. The investor wished to add an extension for permanent living to the existing family house. Although the extension is to function separately, it can also be easily connected to the existing house with a minimum amount of work.
The extension is designed as a single-storey rectangular prism sunk into the ground, with an upper level with a gable roof. Although the mass of the structure is similar to the traditional appearance of the adjacent house, it is visually minimised by the uniformity of the window openings and the facade cladding. The dominant glazed facade of the upper level opens views of the landscape around Lipnice.
The building combines classic masonry construction with reinforced concrete ceilings, support girders, pillars and a foundation. A wooden frame construction was used for the roof truss. The roof is covered with aluminium sheet metal with a rabbet. The facade is also clad in aluminium sheet metal, with a decorative effect achieved by alternating the rabbets.
